Oscar's Creamery has been a Houston favorite since 1986 when "Oscar" Rathert opened shop off 1960 Rd. Oscar had worked in the dairy industry for decades and decided to use his expert knowledge to create premium ice cream using his own recipes. No exceptions for high quality were made – using multiple vendors to find the best individual ingredients. He also insisted on making the ice cream in small batches to give customers the absolute freshest treat possible.

As the years went on the decision was made to open a second Oscar's Creamery scoop shop in Houston on Kirby Drive. We hear countless stories from those of you who were our regulars, visiting the shop for birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, getting a great report card, or to simply cool off on a hot Houston day. We thank all of you for your wonderful support – we couldn't have done it without you.

Unfortunately, as most of you know, Oscar's Creamery Scoop Shops closed many years ago. But don't worry – there's still a way to get your hands on that premium ice cream that you crave! Through the years, Oscar has passed down the tradition and this premium ice cream continues to delight all who taste its creamy goodness. Now specializing in corporate and private ice cream caterings in the Houston area - Oscar's Creamery can bring its legendary ice cream cart to your party, from sundaes to root beer floats! Oscar's also offers its premium ice cream for wholesale - featured by many of Houston's top restaurants.

Another concept that Oscar passed down was to never get comfortable – he encouraged new creations, trying unique flavors, and always striving to be the best. In his honor we recently announced our newest way to enjoy this gourmet treat – Oscar's Custom Ice Cream Cakes. We decided, why settle for a bad flavor to get a pretty cake – or why settle for an unattractive cake to get a great taste? You no longer have to – you pick the flavors, we'll have our professional cake decorator create the look you want – and coming from Oscar's you know it will taste delicious!
